The Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR) was founded on June 15th, 2010, in accordance with the "Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth." GIR is responsible for compiling national GHG statistics annually and publishing them after conducting an analysis and verification. To ensure efficient and systematic management of national GHG statistics, GIR creates a Management Plan of the National GHG Inventory every five years.

GIR operates the National GHGs Management System (NGMS), which manages emissions and emission trading volumes of individual business sites in detail. GIR collaborates with international carbon markets to develop and advance emission trading systems (ETS). Additionally, GIR supports the Republic of Korea's development of Nationally Determined Contributions and Carbon Neutrality Strategies. Through international cooperation projects, GIR promotes information on GHG inventory and reduction policies domestically and internationally, while also transferring relevant knowledge to developing countries.

GIR aims to continue serving as a global think tank specializing in climate change mitigation and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification for GHGs emissions, seeking innovative solutions to combat the global climate change crisis. GIR is committed to creating an organizational culture that upholds fairness and integrity in accordance with public service ethics.

Thank you for your continued interest and support toward these endeavors.
