International Greenhouse Gas Conference (IGC)
Journal of the 17ndth day in Korea
July 11 2018

“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress in every society”

What a great contribution GIR is doing toward the development of our society and for a better sustainable environment! I couldn’t but start with a big thanks to all the GIR team, Jae, Una, Iryne, Jaein, Tara and all the hidden soldiers for all their efforts and generosity in looking after us, what are the information we need to develop our skills to contribute in the process of mitigation and adaptation to climate change in our home countries and globally, and of course for making our lives easier, and happier in South Korea.

On the 17th day comes the big opportunity for us to participate in the 9th International Greenhouse Gas conference (IGC) on the “Preparation of for NDC Implementation for Paris Agreement”

The conference started with welcoming and introductory notes by Mr. Kim, Byung-Hoon (Director of Planning & Administration Team, GIR), and Mr. Kim, Young-hoon (Director General, Ministry of Environment)

Experts from different countries (Maldives, UK, and South Korea) shared their experiences in the Implementation of NDCs, followed by a very active panel discussion and experience sharing among all the participants

The second round goes for carbon credits, Experts from Singapore, Germany and Japan, elaborates on the current systems (carbon tax, JCM etc…) and as we are used from the first day in korea, we always get our opportunity to share our thoughts and to ask about all the information we still need.

At the end of the day, GIR hosted us for a fancy delicious dinner.

Finally, I am very pleased to have this great opportunity to be trained by the leader experts in climate change and by participating in the IGC and the C2GMF.
