My first week in Seoul
Seetala Chantes
June 28th 2018

Finally, my training programme in Seoul started. I arrived after 5 hours difference to my home country, Bangkok, Thailand. Lucky me, I hadn’t to fight with a jet lag since     I am in Seoul and the weather is also nice. I am training at the Ibis Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun which is really beautiful and even a tourist attraction in Seoul. By the way, the running costs for a living are really high in Korea what makes the country so expensive. Also, the food prices in Convenience Stores are high, especially, water, fruits and vegetables. In my opinion, some restaurants are not so expensive in Korea and I love that you always get free water and can refill it as often you like. The cheapest way to eat is properly the street food.

Today is the forth day of the training in Korea, the class started at 9.00 am. Mr. Dominique Revet from UNFCCC Secretariat, our teacher tried to give more knowledge us what the difference between the quality assurance and quality control was and telling us how to builds a sustainable national greenhouse gas inventory system, to provides a clear starting point for future inventories, and improve inventory quality, moreover he also gives us greater understanding by group discussion in many exercises for example, the transparency checklist which aspects of India’s National Inventory Report and the national country inventory and QA/QC checklist. At lunch, we enjoyed Italian food at fashion mall not far from the hotel.

After lunch, it was time around 14.00 pm. to started the afternoon class. It was on to developing an archiving system which to help and manage the inventory team in your country. So why is an archive so important? This will help the inventory team be able to easily access all electronic and paper records from the previous inventory, easily reproduce estimates, ensure that the inventory estimates are credible, reference any relevant files in order to respond to public and/or expert inquiry, and to answer questions about methodologies, more easily review estimates and conduct QA/QC procedures, safeguard against loss, such as database failures, theft, or fire and the system need not be expensive or complicated. Archive may be electronic and/or hard copy, and ideally both

After class, I had a dinner at the hotel because it has been raining.
