APRIL 3, 2017  The application period for the professional training programme on the transparency of climate action and support officially opened on 1 April 2017. Announced in March, the training programme, called UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT, is offered in collaboration by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea (GIR). The programme seeks to provide professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and modeling analysis to national experts from developing countries. Government officials, consultants and researchers in GHG or in climate change response-related fields are encouraged to apply by 6 May. Selected applicants will be notified by 17 May, with the program beginning on 26 June in Republic of Korea. GHG inventories are a key source of information necessary to understand where each country, and the global community at large, stand in terms of GHG emissions. As such, it is imperative to boost the technical capacity of developing countries.
