Join UNFCCC Webinar 26 April

The secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is hosting a webinar on UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT - a professional training programme on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for developing national experts from developing countries, which seeks to strengthen the GHG knowledge base - on Wednesday 26 April at 9:00 CET.

The programme is offered in collaboration by the UNFCCC and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea (GIR). It is part of a broader training programme,
UNFCCC-CASTT, which is being promoted and championed by the UNFCCC secretariat. This comprehensive programme looks to facilitate effective and universal participation of countries in the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) arrangements under the UNFCCC and the transparency framework under the Paris Agreement.

The webinar will provide interested parties with insight into the UNFCCC and GIR partnership, and will further focus on the specifics of the upcoming GHG training programme.  GIR will provide details on the programme structure, including eligibility, logistics, and key programme contents, as well as to identify the benefits participants can expect upon completion of the training. A guest from the Ministry of Population and Environment of Nepal will also provide perspective and share success, having completing a previous training programme with GIR.

GHG inventories are a key source of information necessary to understand where each country, and the global community at large, stand in terms of GHG emissions. As such, it is imperative to boost the technical capacity of developing countries.
