The first day of the training program is more than amazing.
The orientation and introduction to GIR and the program session is informative. This session provided the new trainees with concise and accurate information which made us more comfortable about the training program, its objectives as well as what is expected from us.
Orientation allows us to ask questions or address any concerns.

Moreover, the session gives us the opportunity to know each other as the UNFCCC GIR CASTT Secretariat requested us to introduce our selves to each other. This allowed building positive, friendly relationships at the training with other colleagues who you will interact with often.

Along with this, we have a very useful opening session by both Dr. Heungwon Seo, GIR and a virtual meeting from Ms. Roziya kingizbekova, PATPA.
They congratulate us on being selected as a trainees and representing our countries in this year UNFCCC GIR CASTT training program and they wish us a successful completion of the training program.

We also had two presentations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one from Ms. Minyoung Han and the other from Mr. Jae Jung.
The first presentation is very informative and enriches us with important points related to the UNFCCC's system and its establishment. Many questions are raised by the trainees and all were answered in an accurate and detailed manner.

As for the second presentation, it focuses on Paris Agreement and Transparency Framework MPGs and it discusses significant topics such as the Birth of Paris Agreement, INDCs, & Status of Ratification, Key Provisions in Paris Agreement & Relevant COP21 Decision, Linkages between Transparency Framework and Others, Reporting and Review experiences under the UNFCCC and 2018 COP24 Katowice Package & 2021 COP26 Glasgow Climate Pact.
At the end of the presentation, trainees are divided into four groups to work on exercises with fellow trainees.
These exercises are very useful for me and for my colleagues where we discusses the flexibilities needed to prepare National Inventory Report and we got the opportunity to read and discuss Chapter II of the MPGs developed in the COP24 and CRTs developed in the COP26.
At the end of the exercise, a trainee was selected to present the results of the discussions on behalf of his group. This exercise give me the opportunity to share my view and hear different views from my colleagues. It really helped me a lot to refresh my information and form a clear understating about this important topic.
In fact, I am excited to learn more in the next days and to benefit from such useful discussions.

Coordinator's comments:
Reading your journal, it takes me back to the very first day of this year's training programme. I am pleased that orientation provided you with information which aimed to help trainees to become more familiarized with the programme as well as Korea.
Two lecturers from Ministry of Foreign Affairs are proud representatives of Korean delegation in international climate change negotiations. As they are very much experienced, I was sure that they would deliver informative lectures on the climate regime and I am very glad that you find their lectures useful.
It was one of my valuable moments to see you and trainees actively participating in group exercises. You guys certainly made me feel so proud of each and every one of you.
