Journal title: The diversified lecture day
Date: 9/8/2022, Tuesday

With only three days remaining to end the training, this day was diversified with several lecturers delivering diverse subjects.
The morning lecture was by Professor Seungdo Kim of the Hallym University, on waste sector’s GHG emission, MRV methodology as well as several hands-on exercises (popularly known to him as ‘workshops’). To be honest, I found the waste sector, as compared to the rest of the IPCC categories, to be the most complex one. This is because of a series of lengthy equations and several parameters that require to be calculated. However, constant practice using excel sheets made me understand how simple it can be.
In the afternoon, we had a two-hour lecture presentation from Mr. Gyu H. Kim of the Korea Energy Economics Institute.  The subject was on Greenhouse Gas emission MRV methodology for the energy sector, a case study being Korea.
Final lecture of the day was on Carbon Market Development and Emissions Trade System, delivered by Alistair Ritchie, Director of the Asia-Pacific Sustainability, Asia Society Policy Institute. I got to learn about how Korea is implementing its Emission Trading System, something that my Country should emulate and tailor to its circumstances.

Coordinator's comments:
Most of the lecture days covered one or two topics, but yes this day was the second day to invite three different lecturers to cover three different topics.
I assume Professor Kim Seungdo's exercises on the waste sector were challenging which is of course natural considering that it is likely that you and fellow trainees are experts of other sectors and not familiar with the waste category.
But despite of such complexity of equations, you figured out how it works which is absolutely fabulous.
I can say for sure that Professor Kim will be very pleased to know that exercises were helpful to you, Anne.
